The Tulsa Fire Museum will welcome visitors during the Route 66 Capital Cruise festivities with a special Cook-Out & Open House on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Located just minutes off the parade route, the museum will open the historic Fire Alarm Building to the public for a day of food, history, family activities, and hands-on experiences during one of Tulsa’s largest Route 66 celebration weekends.
Guests attending the event will be able to enjoy hamburgers, hot dogs, and root beer floats while exploring the museum and learning more about Tulsa’s firefighting history. The event will also feature a Touch-A-Truck experience with real emergency vehicles provided with support from the Tulsa Fire Department, Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office, and Mission BBQ.
In addition to accessing the historic Tulsa Fire Alarm Building, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in special paid archive tours offering a behind-the-scenes look into portions of the museum’s historic collections and preservation efforts.
This event is designed to provide families, parade attendees, and Route 66 visitors with a convenient place to stop, cool off indoors, and experience one of Tulsa’s most unique historic landmarks during the Capital Cruise activities.
Our cookout is sponsored by our friends at the Fire Fighters Credit Union, with all proceeds supporting the Tulsa Fire Museum and its ongoing preservation, education, and expansion efforts.
The Tulsa Fire Museum is located inside Tulsa’s historic Fire Alarm Building and is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Tulsa firefighting and emergency services through exhibits, archives, educational programming, and community events.
