Join us at the Tulsa Fire Museum as we proudly celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a special program honoring Miriam Bryant, Tulsa’s first Hispanic female firefighter.


Miriam’s groundbreaking career not only opened doors for women and Hispanic professionals in the fire service, but also set a powerful example of perseverance, courage, and dedication to community. Her story reflects the strength and diversity that have shaped Tulsa’s firefighting history and continue to inspire the next generation.


This year’s program will feature a bilingual interview conducted by Professor Tina Peña of Tulsa Community College, who will guide the conversation in both Spanish and English. Together, they will explore Miriam’s journey—from her early inspirations to the challenges she overcame, her proudest accomplishments, and the legacy she hopes to leave for future firefighters.
